A RENEWABLE SCHOLARSHIP FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN TO GUERIN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
The Guerin Catholic Community suffered a tremendous loss on April 23, 2021 with the passing of Alumna Paige Schemanske, Guerin Catholic Class of 2019. Paige was a beloved member of the Guerin Catholic family and made her mark as a Golden Eagle both in and out of the classroom. In addition to being a 4.0 student, a founding member of the “Our Ladyโs Sodality” Club, and a member of the National Honor Society, Paige also holds the school record in the girlโs 4ร800 Relay and 3200 meter run. More importantly, Paige had a ready smile, a gentle spirit, a kind word for everyone and made a lasting impact on our school community.
The Paige Schemanske Scholarship is renewable for all four years for the student recipient at $1,000 per year for tuition expenses.
Completed applications for this scholarship are to be submitted by March 15, 2024.
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AWARD
- Student (s) must be officially accepted to attend Saint Theodore Guerin High School as an incoming Freshman;
- Student (s) must currently attend a Catholic elementary school;
- Student(s) must exemplify the similar volunteerism, or qualities as Paige โฆ service to others, humility and parish involvement;
- Demonstrates financial need as determined by the Guerin Catholic Tuition & Financial Aid Specialist.

A SCHOLARSHIP FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN FROM OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL PARISH TO GUERIN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
The St. Elizabeth of Hungary scholarship was established to honor this saint who selflessly took care of the sick and needy.
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one (1) or two (2) incoming Guerin Catholic freshmen students from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish that exemplifies the qualities of this extraordinary saint. If two (2) students are selected the $1,000 award will be split equally – $500 per student.
Completed applications for this scholarship are to be submitted by March 15, 2024.
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AWARD
- Student (s) must be officially accepted to attend Saint Theodore Guerin High School as an incoming freshman;
- Student (s) must currently be from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish located in Carmel, Indiana;

A SCHOLARSHIP FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN FROM OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL PARISH TO GUERIN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
The St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need Foundation would like to assist a family in need whoโs incoming Guerin Catholic High School student, or immediate family member, lives with a disability, long-term illness, effects of an accident or other life difficulty. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals who are living with a disability, long-term illness, effects of an accident or other life difficulty. It is our desire to help improve the quality of life for a GCHS student by assisting them in obtaining a Catholic education if their health or physical situation, or that of an immediate family member is impacting the studentโs financial ability to attend school here.
The Founding Donors have established a one-time scholarship to one or more incoming Freshman students from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School (OLMC) of $1,500 each to help defray the cost of his or her tuition at Guerin Catholic.
Completed applications for this scholarship are to be submitted by March 15, 2024.
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AWARD
- Student (s) must be officially accepted to attend Saint Theodore Guerin High School as an incoming freshman;
- Student (s) must currently be from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish located in Carmel, Indiana;

The Evan R. Hansen Legacy Foundation will award a $3200 scholarship to a Guerin Catholic High School rising Senior who exudes the mannerisms of โbecoming the best version of yourself.โ After his first semester at Guerin Catholic, Evan chose to elevate his current academic path to include all Honors classes instead of his current academic load. Little did we know at the time that Evanโs โall inโ lifestyle, faith, family, friends, school, service, and sports, would lead to an early death and a diagnosis of CTE, a degenerative brain disease. It was almost like he knew he needed to use every moment of life to make the most of his God-given life.
Eligibility for Scholarship
- Guerin Catholic student in good standing.
- Evidence of improving GPA and/or consistently high GPA as shown on transcript.
- Evidence of participating and/or taking leadership role in service to others.
- Due Date: March 15, 2024.
The student must create and submit an original item, such as a short essay, story, or poem (250 word limit). Other ideas include, but are not limited to, music, visual artwork/design, or short film production that exemplifies how the choices you made throughout your years at Guerin Catholic High School moved you closer to becoming the person God created you to be. The student should also submit three anecdotal stories (50 words or less) written by two Guerin Catholic staff and one peer that supports the applicants continual striving to be a better person. The money will be paid directly to Guerin Catholic High School from the Evan R. Hansen Legacy Foundation.

The Trace Bulger Memorial โFruit of the Spirit Awardโ Scholarship was created in memory of Trace Bulger a 2015 graduate of Guerin Catholic High School who demonstrated leadership and a deep commitment to the Bibleโs fruits of the Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self- control). Trace taught many people about faith, love and kindness. He was an excellent student (graduated with honors from Guerin Catholic and made the Deanโs List at Wabash College), a fierce athlete (football and track & field), and a passionate artist, faith-filled disciple and extraordinary leader.
Eligibility for Scholarship
Students completing their junior year at Guerin Catholic High School in good standing and preparing to enter senior year with an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 may apply for this $3,000 scholarship. The award is applied toward senior year tuition at Guerin Catholic High School. Students must exemplify the same qualities as Trace (leadership and fruits of the Holy Spirit) in his/her school, parish and community. Completed applications for this scholarship are to be submitted by March 15, 2024.
Please include the following with your application:
- Student must provide an original, creative item such as a short essay, story, poetry, music, visual artwork/design, or short film production that exemplifies these above listed qualities, accompanied with a reflection on their selected piece;
- A one-page “About Me” listing of leadership/achievements.
- One letter of reference from a Guerin Catholic faculty or staff member who can address your academic, personal, and leadership strengths.
- If the student has experienced any past GC disciplinary action, please provide an explanation.

The Xavier Thomas Murphy Spirit of the Mission Scholarship was created to recognize good students that might not otherwise get recognized. He or she should be a good student who works hard and should be active in the Guerin Catholic Community. The student should be a leader, but not necessarily in the traditional manner. They can be the type of person that just always chooses to do the right thing. The student should have a strong faith that is manifested in some tangible way.
Eligibility for Scholarship
Students completing their junior year at Guerin Catholic High School and preparing to enter senior year with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 may apply for this $4,000 scholarship. The award is applied toward senior year tuition at Guerin Catholic High School. Completed applications for this scholarship are to be submitted by March 15, 2024.
Please include the following with your application:
- Letter of reference from a Guerin Catholic faculty member who can address your academic qualities;
- A one-page resume that lists extracurricular activities, including involvement and achievements in academics, the arts, athletics, your community, your church or parish;
- A one-page essay (roughly 250 words, typed, double spaced) that responds to the following topic:
What experience during my high school years has done the most to shape and strengthen my faith? In what ways has this experience changed my thinking about the meaning of my faith?

The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagle Club will award a $1,000 scholarship to one graduating male AND one female student-athlete from Guerin Catholic who best exemplifies a role model Guerin Catholic Student Athlete.
SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE: March 15, 2024
Awards will be based upon the following criteria:
โข Guerin Catholic Graduating Senior
โข Must have a 3.0+ grade point average
โข Must have participated in a GCHS Athletic Department recognized sport during his/her Senior year.
โข Possess and demonstrate a positive mental attitude, compassion, competitive spirit, and support for his/her teammates both on and off the field/court/athletic arena.
โข Displays leadership on his/her team, at Guerin Catholic, and in their community.
โข One letter of recommendation/email regarding the above characteristics. This may be from a teacher, counselor, coach, other school personnel or community contact. Email to GoldenEagleClub@guerincatholic.org by the identified deadline.
โข 250 words or less essay explaining a lesson learned or how you developed from your Guerin Catholic High School athletic experiences.
The Scholarship Award Process
โข Scholarship applications must be initiated by students. Teachers, counselors, and other school personnel, parents, or community leaders may provide letters of recommendation.
โข Letters of Recommendation are to be submitted to GCHS Golden Eagle Club via the Golden Eagle Club email (goldeneagleclub@guerincatholic.org)
โข Scholarship applications will be reviewed by The Golden Eagle Board Scholarship Committee.
โข Award recipients will be announced at the Senior Awards Night.
โข The decision of the Golden Eagle Board/Scholarship Committee is final.
โข Before scholarship funds are dispersed, winners must show proof of full-time enrollment for 2024-2025 at an accredited college, university, or technical training school.

The Golden Eagle Club Athletic Booster Club Scholarship Application

Tyler Frenzel is a Carmel boy who passed away on December 11, 2004 after a two-year battle with leukemia. In Tylerโs short life, he taught many people about faith, courage, generosity and love. Tylerโs motto was: โNo Limits โ Fight Hard โ Never Give Up.โ
During his illness, people would donate money to help Tyler. He would then turn around and give it to an organization in need โ his church, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Camp Emma Lou for sick children. Tyler always kept his faith and hope alive, and he had the wisdom to understand the importance of helping others.
The award honors Tylerโs legacy of giving back to others. It will be present to a deserving student who demonstrates the same commitment to faith and service that Tyler did.
Eligibility for Scholarship
Students completing their senior year at Guerin Catholic High School and preparing to enter college may apply for this $2,000 award. The money will be sent to the registrarโs office to be placed in the studentโs account at the college of their choice to assist with tuition expenses. Completed applications for this scholarship are to be submitted by March 15, 2024.

- A one-page resume listing community service in which you have participated;
- A one-page essay that answers the following:
How has service impacted your life and your faith? How will your participation in service to others impact your future?

High School Placement Test Scholarships
A Presidential Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman who earns a composite score at the 98th or 99th percentile (national percentile) on the High School Placement Test. The Presidential Scholarship is an academic scholarship potentially worth $8,000 over four years ($2,000 per year, renewable for four years based on GPA).
Annual renewal of scholarships
In order to maintain the Presidential Scholarship at Guerin Catholic High School, the student must maintain a cumulative unweighted grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 on a 4.00 scale at the conclusion of each school year. The studentโs GPA will be reviewed at the end of each trimester, but only the cumulative GPA at the end of the third trimester will be used to measure compliance with the criteria for renewal. Should the studentโs GPA fall below the 3.3, the annual monetary award will no longer be available to be applied against future yearsโ tuition.

Households with more than one student attending Guerin Catholic receive a $1,600 Multi-Student Discount for each additional student enrolled.
Students with a parent who is a regular full-time or regular part-time employee of the Diocese of Lafayette are eligible to receive a discount to be applied towards tuition at Guerin Catholic.
