Evan R. Hansen Legacy Foundation Better Version of Yourself Scholarship

The Evan R. Hansen Legacy Foundation will award a $3200 scholarship to a Guerin Catholic High School rising Senior who exudes the mannerisms of “becoming the best version of yourself.”  After his first semester at Guerin Catholic, Evan chose to elevate his current academic path to include all Honors classes instead of his current academic load.   Little did we know at the time that Evan’s “all in” lifestyle, faith, family, friends, school, service, and sports, would lead to an early death and a diagnosis of CTE, a degenerative brain disease.  It was almost like he knew he needed to use every moment of life to make the most of his God-given life.

Eligibility for Scholarship

  1. Guerin Catholic student in good standing.
  2. Evidence of improving GPA and/or consistently high GPA as shown on transcript.
  3. Evidence of participating and/or taking leadership role in service to others.
  4. Due Date: Thursday, April 8th, 2021.

The student must create and submit an original item, such as a short essay, story, or poem (250 word limit).  Other ideas include, but are not limited to, music, visual artwork/design, or short film production that exemplifies how the choices you made throughout your years at Guerin Catholic High School moved you closer to becoming the person God created you to be.  The student should also submit three anecdotal stories (50 words or less) written by two Guerin Catholic staff and one peer that supports the applicants continual striving to be a better person. The money will be paid directly to Guerin Catholic High School from the Evan R. Hansen Legacy Foundation. Tyler Frenzel No Limits Service Scholarship

Tyler Frenzel is a Carmel boy who passed away on December 11, 2004 after a two-year battle with leukemia. In Tyler’s short life, he taught many people about faith, courage, generosity and love. Tyler’s motto was: “No Limits – Fight Hard – Never Give Up.”

During his illness, people would donate money to help Tyler. He would then turn around and give it to an organization in need – his church, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Camp Emma Lou for sick children.
