The 2024-25 school year is the twenty-first year for Guerin Catholic High School!
The two of us are blessed to have served in Catholic schools for a combined 50 years and are blessed to serve in leadership roles here at Guerin Catholic. The President-Principal model is a form of governance that takes the varied and numerous responsibilities for managing a Catholic school and spreads them over two leadership positions. We work closely together to carry out the vision and mission of Guerin Catholic High School.
In Hamilton County, there is quality, free, public education nearby. That may raise the question, “Why choose Guerin Catholic?”
Here are some of our experiences of Guerin Catholic High School:
The Catholic faith permeates every aspect of our school. We instruct the faith through each and every academic department. We celebrate our faith with daily Mass. We pray together at the beginning of each day, at the beginning of each class, and at the end of each day. Meetings begins with prayer. We offer Adoration weekly and the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available three days per week. The staff participates in faith formation sessions. It is our intent that everyone in our community experience ongoing faith formation simply by being here.
Most importantly, we – the members of the school community – make a concerted effort to share our faith with others. We strive to be intentional disciples. We take care to treat one another with kindness and charity and look to serve others through ministry activities and outreach programs. Our faith is a lived experience.
Each of us are blessed with God-given abilities. “Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on the lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house” (Matthew 5:15). It is the goal of every member of the faculty, staff, and administration to help our students reach their full potential – to shine their light. We do this by helping them maximize their God-given ability. We challenge them, call them to task, guide them, and affirm them. We LOVE them. Here at Guerin Catholic, we include that sentiment in our Promise Statement, using the words of St. Theodore Guerin herself: “Love the children first, then teach them.”
An active community that genuinely cares about one another can accomplish amazing things. Guerin Catholic students are not simply one of 800 students in the building. They are not a GPA or an SAT score. They are young people with unique gifts and individual needs. They carry around baggage of self-doubt, struggling relationships, the pressure to succeed, and to stay the course in a world attempting to sell them “more desirable” options.
We recognize that parents are the first educators of their children when it comes to the faith, and we are proud to serve as partners in that effort. That way, both at home and at school, our students have people dedicated to keeping them on the right path and loving them through their struggles.
We are proud of the work being done at Guerin Catholic. We hope and pray you are (or will be if you are new to Guerin Catholic!) proud as well.
Finally, speaking of proud, we continue to make progress on building a 61,000 sq. ft. addition to our existing building! The addition will include, among other things, a 500-seat auditorium, a two-court athletic fieldhouse, and additional locker rooms. The building, made possible by MANY generous benefactors, will allow us to serve both our current families and future families for years to come.
May God continue to bless the Guerin Catholic High School community!
St. Theodore Guerin, pray for us!
