The Guerin Catholic Community suffered a tremendous loss on April 23, 2021 with the passing of Alumna Paige Schemanske, Guerin Catholic Class of 2019.

Paige was a beloved member of the Guerin Catholic family and made her mark as a Golden Eagle both in and out of the classroom. In addition to being a 4.0 student, a founding member of the “Our Lady’s Sodality” Club, and a member of the National Honor Society, Paige also holds the school record in the girl’s 4×800 Relay and 3200-meter run.

More importantly, Paige had a ready smile, a gentle spirit, a kind word for everyone and made a lasting impact on our school community.

During their Senior year at Guerin Catholic each student is asked to answer the following questions for their guidance counselor: What would you say are your greatest strengths, personally and academically? What about your areas of growth and why?

Paige’s Response: “My greatest strength personally is comforting others. I like to comfort my friends when they have lost a loved one or are feeling sick. By doing this, my hope is that they find that I am someone they can come to in difficult times. Everyone needs someone to support them and give them words of affirmation at any point in their life: good or bad. For me, I find it easy to spread that love and kindness because I care how others feel.”

“I was struggling and no one really knew it, but Paige was always checking in on me and reassuring me every day that she was there for me,” explained a current GC Senior. “She was always putting others before herself, and I’ll never forget her kind heart.”

Even after her time at Guerin Catholic, Paige took that caring spirit with her to the University of Southern Indiana where she was studying nursing. She consistently kept in contact with her friends from Guerin Catholic and checked in on them often. Paige beautifully modeled the school’s vision of “serving with love” and she will never be forgotten.

To honor Paige’s memory, the Schemanske Family and the Guerin Catholic Community have established the Paige Schemanske Scholarship Fund for Guerin Catholic students and families.
