Presented annually at the Guerin Gala, the Bishop William L. Higi Leadership Award is the school’s most prestigious award. This year’s award recipients will be honored at the Guerin Gala event to be held on Friday, February 11, 2022.
The Bishop William L. Higi Leadership Award is presented annually to individuals who live out the mission of Guerin Catholic and act as catalysts for transformational change in the community.
Past honorees, in concert with the Bishop, had a vision of providing a quality Catholic education to families living in the Diocese of Lafayette. In the face of opposition and constant setbacks, these people put their faith ahead of their fears and for the first time in sixty years, opened a new Catholic high school in Indiana.
As of today, more than 17 years after Guerin Catholic opened her doors, the school has been recognized consistently as one of the top Catholic high schools in the nation.
Beginning in 2019-20, the Bishop William L. Higi Leadership Award expanded to include the following three categories:
Nominations should focus on activities and service that “builds community” and will honor award recipients for their commitment to the students, the overall mission and community of Guerin Catholic.

Faculty/Staff Award: Open to past or present Faculty or Staff of Guerin Catholic

At a minimum, each nomination should include a paragraph (500 words max) that states the category of nomination and establishes the candidate’s (individual/couple/organization) qualifications with clear and concise detail.
