Chemistry II (Honors)
Grade 12
1 credit
Prerequisite: Biology I, Chemistry I, and Algebra II (may be taken concurrently with this course)
Chemistry II Honors chemistry is an extension of sophomore year chemistry. It is meant to prepare students for the beginning of college chemistry. The curriculum is grounded in concept-based teaching and learning, and is designed to foster critical thinking. As the course progresses, the combination of lecture and lab experiences will facilitate students in developing a familiarity with problem solving, lab techniques, scientific inquiry and the role of uncertainty and error in scientific investigations. This is a good course for a student interested in a science-related career who did not pursue the full IB Chemistry course. This course may be co-sat with IB Chemistry Standard Level Part 1.
