Because We Are Grateful Guerin Catholic kicked off its 17th annual Because We Are Grateful (BWAG) Thanksgiving Program by hosting its annual service day after Trimester 1 finals in November. Golden Eagles traveled around Central Indiana and helped numerous not-for-profit organizations like Little Sisters of the Poor, Third Phase, O’Connor House, Journey Farms and others with their most pressing needs. It was a great day of Serving with Love! Grandparents Day Another record breaker this year was our Annual Grandparents Breakfast and Mass as we welcomed more than 400 grandparents to Guerin Catholic on October 3, the feast of our patroness St. Theodore Guerin. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, all enjoyed tours of the school and grounds and celebrated All-School Mass. It was a beautiful morning with our beloved GOLDEN Eagle grandparents! Camp Purple Summer of 2022 was a record breaking year for campers at Guerin Catholic as more than 1,000 youth descended on our campus to participate in nearly 50 camps from art and baking to basketball and lacrosse. Campers were invited to a special Camp Purple Night in The Nest during a home football game in August. Registration for the 2023 Camp Purple opens in February at GuerinCatholic.org. Senior Traditions Along with some of the time-honored senior traditions of years past like tie-dye uniforms, the Guerin Catholic seniors never disappoint when it comes to safe but fun pranks during their final week of school. As seen above, Mr. McNeany was surprised to be greeted by hundreds of balloons in the academic hallway in May thanks to the Class of 2022. St. Isidore Farm Did you know that the St. Isidore Farm on the campus of Guerin Catholic has grown substantially over the past two years and we now offer a course on farming and food justice? Students learn about ecology, sustainable food systems, and food justice and donate 10% of each week’s harvest to local families in need. The farm installed a high tunnel hoop house that extends their growing season, as well as opens new, creative farming opportunities. Student Choice Day One of the most popular learning days at Guerin Catholic is held just prior to Spring Break in March. On Student Choice Day, GC teachers and staff host informative “classes” on things they love. Examples from this year’s courses included Table Tennis 101 (above), Party Games with P2, Physics Olympics with Mr. Ross and Mrs. Kennedy, Gone Fishing with Mr. McNeany, Home Cooking with Sister Paulina and Chef Paul to name a few.
