Football The Golden Eagle football team finished 6-5 highlighted by wins over McCutcheon, Notre Dame Prep (MI), and Columbus North. The program also won the Bishop’s Cannon for the 3rd straight year with a 50-28 win over Lafayette Central Catholic. The season ended with a loss against defending state champion West Lafayette by the score of 34-31. CrossCountry The boys and girls cross country teams both finished in the top 3 of the Circle City Conference race held at Guerin Catholic. Two girls runners and three boys runners finished in the top 10 of the race, securing their All-Conference honors. Austin Callahan ’21, Holden King ’21 and Bridget Gallagher ’23 represented the Golden Eagles admirably at the semi-state level. BoysTennis The Golden Eagle tennis team, led by Coach Chris Sciaudone, finished runner-up in conference for the second straight year. The team was led by #1 doubles team of Cole Metzger ’21 and Ty Harrington ’22, who pushed eventual state champion Carmel to the limit during a 3-set thriller in regular season play. The bulk of players return for the 2020 campaign as the Golden Eagles will make another run at a conference and sectional championship. GirlsVolleyball The girls volleyball program ended their season with a loss against conference rival and eventual sectional champion Brebeuf Jesuit. Highlights of the season included strong days at the Covenant Christian Invitational and the Artesian Classic. BoysSoccer What a season for the boys soccer program! Coach Chris McGrath guided his team to a Circle City Conference Championship outscoring their opponents 25-3 in five conference games. The team placed five players on the All-Conference squad: Daniel Cloran ’20, Aidan Perhacs ’20, Peter Hall ’22, Ethan Cabotage ’21 and Peter Bedford ’22. The thrilling season included a sectional and regional title before losing a heartbreaker in Evansville versus the eventual state champion, Evansville Memorial. GirlsSoccer The girls soccer program competed against the very best all season as the Golden Eagles defeated 3A top 15 opponents North Central, Zionsville and Fishers. The season was also highlighted by delivering Brebeuf Jesuit a conference loss for the first time in Circle City Conference history. Evelyn Bestard ’21 and Ava Schlichte ’21 garnered All-Conference honors as well. GirlsGolf Coach Mark Mathews led his girls golf team to a 4th straight Circle City Conference championship highlighted by an individual title by Angelica Pfefferkorn ’20. Her sister, Christina Pfefferkorn ’22, joined her on the All-Conference team as well as at the IHSAA State Finals where they both finished in the top 40. Angelica finished 8th at the state finals, which is the best finish for a female golfer in school history! Guerin Catholic athletic teams continued to raise the bar as another successful fall season is now in the books. As of press time, our boys teams are in 2nd place and our girls teams are in 3rd place for the All-Sports trophy for the Circle City Conference. On Friday, November 22, six student-athletes were honored for their commitment to play a sport in college. Congratulations and good luck at the next level!
