BoysLacrosse Coach Charlie Barry and the boys lacrosse team punched their ticket to the program’s first IHSLA (Indiana High School Lacrosse Association) Final Four appearance in school history with a sudden death 9-8 overtime win over Culver Academies in the Sweet 16. The team fell in the the Semi-State game, and ended their season with a record of 11-6 and as the first ever Circle City Conference Champions. Team Captain Joe Heck ’19 was recognized by the IHSLA as a member of the 2019 1st Team All State award winner—Defense. JoeReitzSportsCamp Guerin Catholic hosted the 11th Annual Sports Camp with Joe Reitz for boys in grades 1-5 on March 16, 2019. Former Indianapolis Colt and current Guerin Catholic assistant basketball coach Reitz hosted campers for an afternoon of fundamental football and basketball skills, games and learning about how to prioritize one’s faith, family, school and sports. He shared three important messages with his campers: 1) respect others, 2) give your very best of your God-given ability, and 3) have fun. The 12th Annual Sports Camp with Joe Reitz is on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 1-4:30 pm. Registration opens in January at GuerinCatholic.org. BoysGolf The boys golf team finished its season with a 4th place finish in the state championship at Prairie View Golf Club. The team went into state ranked #2 and finished as the first team in program history to make the podium. Coach Mark Mathews and the team also captured the Circle City Conference Championship. Athletics Summer 2020 Camp Purple for Grades K-8 Online Registration opens March 1, 2020! 12 IMPACT MAGAZINE • FALL 2019 Boys Lacrosse Hockey The Central Indiana Knights Hockey team—a combined hockey club with players from Cathedral, Bishop Chatard, Guerin Catholic, Noblesville and Park Tudor highs schools in the central Indiana area—won the 2018-2019 3A state championship in a thrilling 4-2 victory over Evansville. This is the Knights second state title in three years. Guerin Catholic was represented by players Billy Freudenthal ’19, Gabe Cuffel ’20, Charlie Sawyer ’20 and Michael Supernaw ’21.
