13 GUERINCATHOLIC.ORG “Our children left Guerin Catholic as kinder, more thoughtful people,” shares Karen. “The context in which they look at life now is different because they were at Guerin Catholic. It changed their lives.” John and Karen give credit to the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum at Guerin Catholic for effectively preparing their children for academic success in college. “Guerin Catholic’s IB curriculum broadened their minds,” says Karen. “It prepared them for college in ways that other curriculums couldn’t.” As a Guerin Catholic faculty member, Karen is intentional about creating a safe environment for students to discover and build upon their God-given gifts. “At Guerin Catholic, we are trying to foster compassionate, faith-filled, successful, human beings,” says Karen. “ Love the children first, then teach them. That’s what we’re called to do.” The Kennedys are confident that a physical expansion of the Guerin Catholic Fine Arts and Wellness Center will create the opportunity for more students to access and participate in these invaluable, enrichment-based activities. “It is our job to plant the seeds for students and give them ample opportunities to experiment and grow,” says Karen. “It’s time to expand our current fine arts and athletics facilities in order to accommodate the growth and potential of our students and our community!” n Nick Kennedy ’16 as Fagin in Oliver!
