An adventurous group of Guerin Catholic faculty and staff took a “leap of faith” and completed tandem skydives on October 7, 2019. The group was organized by Dr. Dan White and included Leona Chianello (Principal’s Assistant), Alfie Hernandez (Assistant Director of Athletics), Fr. John Nguyen (Chaplain), Stephanie Ganser (Social Studies), Dr. Dan White (World Languages), Doug Cline (Theology), Dr. Clarice Doucette (World Languages) and friend, Caroline Lee Thompson, Chris White (Dr. White’s son) and Eric Leveque (World Languages). “We were such an eclectic group,” explained Mrs. Chianello (photos, bottom left and right). “Before the jump we really didn’t know each other outside of school. None of us were afraid of soaring through God’s beautiful blue sky. And now whenever I look up at the sky, I am reminded of the nine new friends that stepped out of their comfort zone with me! Right now, it’s the closest to heaven we could be!” Others described the jump as a truly spiritual experience. There’s a spiritual feeling in pushing the boundaries of what you think you can pull off, especially in a context as saturated with God’s natural beauty, camaraderie and physical sensation as that of skydiving. Perhaps it is best summed up by Mrs. Ganser’s famous favorite phrase, “Praise God!” 6 IMPACT MAGAZINE • FALL 2019 LeapofFaith #thisiswhy Mrs. Stephanie Ganser (L-R) Leona Chianello, Alfie Hernandez, Fr.
