IMPACT 2019

5 GUERINCATHOLIC.ORG Mike and Grace Pratt COMMUNITY AWARD The Pratts have been staples in the Guerin Catholic Community since well before the groundbreaking of the school. In addition to hosting numerous information sessions in their home, the Pratt’s truly “Trusted in Providence” by sending all three of their daughters—Adriana ’08, Angie ’09 and Chelsea ’12—to a completely untested, unproven school in the middle of Hamilton County. Their contributions to Guerin Catholic are too numerous to count but they have beautifully modeled the school’s vision of “serving with love” and “leading with humility” for the better part of the past two decades. Mike has served in a variety of volunteer capacities, most recently as chair of the Advancement Committee, and Grace has worn many hats during her time at Guerin Catholic, including serving as the first Director of Admissions. She currently serves as one of Guerin Catholic’s guidance counselors (families with last names beginning with Q-Z) and continually pushes all of her students to discover their God-given potential. Marcia Murphy FACULTY & STAFF AWARD Currently the Guerin Catholic Director of Fine Arts, Marcia Murphy has also served in numerous capacities at Guerin Catholic. There has been no task too big or too small for Marcia to conquer! It is estimated that Marcia has been involved in over 30 plays and musicals, and more impressive is the care she takes in seeking out students to be involved in something bigger than themselves. Marcia has been deeply involved in nearly every capacity at Guerin Catholic—athletics, fine arts, Kairos, teaching, leadership, mission trips, field trips, International Baccalaureate, and so much more! The number of students’ lives who have been impacted by Marcia Murphy is immeasurable! Most importantly, she perfectly models what it means to be a loving and devoted mother and wife. With the amount of time she commits to Guerin Catholic each year, no one would guess that Marcia is the mother of seven: Madeline, Xavier ’07, Julian ’08, Gilbert ’11, Isabel ’14, Mathilda ’17, and Eleanor ’20, and grandmother to Agnes and Bernadette. As one of her colleagues noted, “Marcia is the greatest example of living out the charism’s of Mother Guerin. She leads with humility, she trusts in God’s Providence each and every moment of every day, and more than anyone who has stepped into this building, she serves the students, staff and families with love.” Sam Gardner ’08 ALUMNI AWARD While at Guerin Catholic, Sam was a strong student while also participating in football, basketball, baseball, GoldenVoice, and theatre. It was in the Spring Musical The Pirates of Penzance where he met his future wife Katie (Regan) Gardner ’10. After playing basketball and studying law at Wittenberg University, Sam returned to coach in the Guerin Catholic boys’ basketball program and has been instrumental in the development of the school’s Alumni Committee. Sam serves as chair of the Alumni Council, and is the first alumni member of the School Governing Board. Sam is the epitome of what Guerin Catholic stands for through his servant leadership—he builds community by all that he does. It is through the vital support and involvement of alumni like Sam that Guerin Catholic will continue to succeed in fulfilling its mission. HigiAward LICENSE #011615 REFERENCE 151975
