Covid-19 Update: August 25, 2020

First, we want to thank you for your continued support of fulfilling our mission through these difficult circumstances. We value each and every one of your children and are making daily decisions with their safety at the top of our minds.

Our plans and precautions for this school year were developed with the goal of keeping the virus out of our school. Unfortunately, we have had recent positive cases among some of our students, which have resulted in a large number of students being quarantined. This, combined with the knowledge that there will likely be more, has created a situation where the responsible thing to do is to move our instruction to distance learning starting Thursday, August 27 through Friday, September 4. This decision was made in collaboration with the Hamilton County Health Department and with the support of the Diocese. This action is an effort to prevent a more widespread outbreak among our students and community.

During this temporary eLearning experience, students are encouraged to maintain their school day routines. This Thursday, August 27 and Friday, August 28 students should plan to follow our Temporary eLearning Schedule and connect with their teachers and classmates at the start of each class period using the Zoom link provided by our teachers. During these Zoom meetings on Thursday and Friday, teachers will provide students with further instruction on what the following week will look like for each class.

It is our hope to transition back using a Blended Learning Instruction model (see “Instructional Levels” below) on Tuesday, September 7. More detailed information, including attendance procedures, will be shared later this week.

Guerin Catholic High School strives to be a genuine educational community of faith. We focus on promoting trust and collaboration with our parents as the primary educators of their children. The COVID-19 virus requires us all to recommit to our collective responsibility as a community to work together to keep each other safe and to keep the virus out of our school. We have traced many of these positive cases to a large gathering of students outside of school. In order for us to remain open and return to in-person learning it is imperative that we have the support of all families to help our students understand that caution must be taken at all times and large gatherings should be avoided.

Let’s continue to hold each other in prayer as we continue to navigate through this as a family.

St. Theodore Guerin, pray for us.
