Biology II (Anatomy & Physiology) is an advanced Science elective course in which students investigate and apply concepts associated with Human Anatomy and Physiology. Concepts covered include the structure and function of the various tissues, organs and organ systems of the human body. Emphasis will be on the Gross & Microscopic Anatomy as well as the normal Physiological processes of the organ systems. Some Pathophysiology will be included to help reinforce an understanding of normal function vs common disease states in the organ systems of the body. Laboratory experiences (dissection of organs, models & visiting a human cadaver lab) will be used to apply knowledge of various course topics. This course will help to prepare students planning to pursue a career in the medical field. IB Science is recommended and this course is designed to cover topics not covered in IB Biology.
