Application Process for 2020-21 School Year
Applications for 2020-21 school year are now being accepted. All supporting documents should be submitted as soon as possible once the application form has been submitted. Applicants after the December 15th deadline will be offered acceptance based on availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
Priority for admissions is as follows for those applicants submitting all required documents before the December 15th Priority Placement deadline. Please note should applications exceed capacity, students will be admitted based on the priority placement policy below for those completing their application portfolio prior to the December 15th deadline.
Applications will be assigned a Priority Placement group number once we have received all required portfolio documents.
|Group 1||Siblings of current students or graduates, legacies, and children of employees of the Diocese of Lafayette.|
|Group 2||Students currently enrolled in a Catholic school within the Diocese of Lafayette.|
|Group 3||Members of a Parish within the Diocese of Lafayette.|
|Group 4||All Catholics residing within the Diocese of Lafayette.|
|Group 5||Non-Catholics residing in the Diocese of Lafayette.|
|Group 6||Catholics residing outside the Diocese of Lafayette and all others.|
A. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
Priority Placement application deadline is December 15, 2019. Applications will continue to be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis after December 15th. Please note should the class exceed capacity, students will be placed on a waiting list. Click here to submit your admissions application.
Financial Aid deadline is December 1, 2019. Apply between October 1 and December 1, 2019.
B. SUBMIT ALL ADMISSION PORTFOLIO DOCUMENTS
Applications will be assigned a Priority Placement group number once we have received all required portfolio documents (listed below).
In addition to the application, all supporting documents listed below must be received for your student to be considered an applicant to Guerin Catholic. In addition to registering for and taking the HSPT (as outlined in Item C below), you will also need to submit the following items through our online system, GC Gateway:
- Copies of grades and standardized test scores from the 6th and 7th grade (previous two years for transfer students)
- Copy of your child’s immunization records
- Copy of birth certificate
- Three letters of recommendation (at least 1 from a current teacher). Electronic letters of recommendation requests can be sent from GC Gateway once you have completed the application.
- HSPT Results (incoming freshmen only)
NOTE: First semester 8th grade transcripts will need to be received by February 1, 2019 for scheduling purposes. These are not required for acceptance purposes.
C. REGISTER FOR AND TAKE THE HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST (HSPT)*
All eighth grade students applying to Guerin Catholic High School are required to take the High School Placement Test. This test will help us validate a student’s readiness and proper placement into classes, as well as determine who is eligible to receive a Guerin Catholic scholarship. We offer the test on the following dates:

Two scholarships are available at Guerin Catholic. The Presidential Scholarship awards $2,500 a year renewable for four years which totals $10,000. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to students scoring in the 98th or 99th national percentile on the HSPT. The Academic Scholarship awards $1,500 a year renewable for four years with a total award of $6,000. The Academic Scholarship is awarded to those students scoring in the the 96th or 97th national percentile on the HSPT.
PLEASE NOTE: Guerin Catholic applicants are no longer required to take the HSPT at Guerin Catholic in order to be eligible for our merit based scholarships. Tests taken elsewhere are eligible for the Academic and Presidential scholarship. Test results should be forwarded to our admission department via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
D. ENSURE ALL ADMISSIONS PORTFOLIO DOCUMENTS ARE SUBMITTED BY DECEMBER 15, 2019 FOR PRIORITY PLACEMENT
E. ACCEPTANCE LETTERS FOR PRIORITY PLACEMENT WILL BE MAILED IN JANUARY 2020
Applications received after December 15th will be reviewed for acceptance once all documents have been submitted to Admissions. Acceptance letters will be mailed as students are accepted.
F. SUBMIT THE REQUIRED $1,000 TUITION DEPOSIT BEFORE MARCH 1, 2020 TO ENROLL YOUR STUDENT
Applications received after December 15th will require the $1,000 tuition deposit within 10 days of receiving the offer of Admission.
