SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Service Hours and Opportunities
Guerin Catholic offers a rich service experience that empowers students to live out their faith as disciples of Jesus Christ by loving God and neighbor. The command to love one another extends to all our sisters and brothers in Christ. Guerin Catholic teaches that charity is a virtue that is developed through habit.
The Campus Ministry office provides many service opportunities for students. These can be found on our service opportunity website, fs2.guerincatholic.org/groups/campusministry/.
Mission trips are available as part of each student's four-year experience. All-school service projects also happen throughout the year.
Students will complete a minimum of 120 service hours upon graduation. 30 hours will be required every year. Of these 30 service hours, 18 must be completed at a community church or parish, or at an event sponsored by a church or parish. The other 12 can be done at Guerin Catholic or any other place. Students are encouraged to submit service hours even if they have reached the 18 or 12 hour marks, because those hours will be placed into a category called “Other” and the number of hours there will be reflected on their report cards.
Beginning May 7, 2012, students will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities until they have completed all 30 service hours for the past year.
Service hours should be submitted online at sh.guerincatholic.org.
Students log in with their Guerin Catholic username and password, and fill out the form provided. After the submitted hours have been moderated, they will be added to the student’s total service hours completed. This total can be seen on the first page after logging in. |
