The Office of Campus Ministry assists in fulfilling the mission of Saint Theodore Guerin High School by coordinating students' spiritual growth outside of the classroom setting.
Faith Life
- Each morning at Guerin Catholic starts with The Morning Offering Prayer and ends with the Angelus prayer.
- Students have the opportunity to go to daily Mass.
- Each student is assigned to a Heaven Group, which is a prayer group that attends Mass together at least once a week.
- Twice each month, we come together as a school community to celebrate Mass as a school and with our families.
- The Sacrament of Reconciliation is highly valued at Guerin Catholic. Priests from throughout the Lafayette-in-Indiana Diocese offer this Sacrament to our students after school each Tuesday and Wednesday.
- In 2007, we consecrated our school to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and we participate in the yearly Novena by offering Adoration the first Friday of every month as well as a student-led Rosary every Friday.
Guerin Catholic offers several other faith-enrichment opportunities, including pilgrimages throughout the world.
- Well-known speakers from around the world provide testimony and witness to our Catholic faith.
- In May, we honor Mary with a May crowning and student-led rosary every Friday.
Faith Leadership
Students have many opportunities to grow in leadership:
- The Campus Ministry committee is a student- led group that works to preserve our Catholic identity and bring service and social justice issues to the forefront.
- A Student Campus Minister officer holds a position within our student government.
- Our Marian Club provides a solution for students who feel called to take their faith to a deeper level.
- Additional ways in which we promote leadership in Campus Ministry include our Pro-Life Club, our Adoration Club, as well as leadership opportunities with numerous retreats.
- Students also help plan and participate in daily Masses as well as our all-school Masses.
- Students share their ministry experiences in the Campus Ministry Corner feature of the school's quarterly newsletter.
- The St. Augustine Leadership Award is awarded to the Guerin Catholic senior who has shown exceptional leadership gifts.

Faith in Service
Guerin Catholic offers a rich service experience that empowers students to live out their faith as disciples of Jesus Christ by loving God and neighbor. The command to love one another extends to all our sisters and brothers in Christ. Guerin Catholic teaches that charity is a virtue that is developed through habit.
- Students will complete a minimum of 120 service hours upon graduation.
- The Campus Ministry office provides myriad service opportunities for students.
- Mission trips are part of each student's four-year experience.
- Students are given the opportunity to organize school-wide service projects.
- The St. Faustina Award for Service is awarded to the Guerin Catholic student who has shown an exceptional commitment to works of Mercy.
A Faithful Environment
Campus Ministry works hard to keep Christ at the center of all we do at Guerin Catholic. To enter our hallways is to embrace our Catholic identity -- be that the student mural of Mary’s Immaculate Heart, the outdoor Stations of the Cross, or even the Marian Grotto!
Faith Retreats
As part of the Guerin Catholic curriculum, students are offered a spiritual retreat each year.
- Freshman Retreat: "Tradition"
- Sophomore Retreat: "Leadership"
- Junior Retreat: "Legacy"
- Senior Retreat: "Transitioning your Faith to College"
- Incoming Freshman Retreat: Student-led retreat designed to welcome new students to the Guerin Catholic family.
Faith in Pastoral Presence
Guerin Catholic has two priests on staff -- Fr. Dale Ehrman (Vice President) and Fr. Ted Rothrock (President). The Director of Campus Ministry, Deborah Riley, is available year-round for student needs. In addition, vocations are strongly emphasized and encouraged. Priests from throughout the diocese frequently celebrate Mass and participate in retreats. Bishop William Higi is a frequent visitor, including his annual visit to the Bishop Bowl football game between Guerin Catholic and Lafayette Central Catholic each fall. Our priests attend each retreat, each mission trip, and each pilgrimage. One-on-one spiritual direction is always available to students. |
