GOAL OF GUERIN CATHOLIC ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS:
To provide students the opportunity to be awarded an academic scholarship based on their achievements in grade/middle school focusing on the areas of:
- Academics
- Service to Others
- Leadership
- Character
OBJECTIVE:
To model the application process of colleges and universities in awarding academic scholarships to incoming students.
To create a process that has integrity and to award a scholarship to a student who exhibits high quality in all areas of learning.
There are two types of scholarships. An Academic Scholarship with totals $6000 ($1,000 per year) to be used over a four year period and a Presidential Scholarship with totals $10,000 ($2500 per year) to be used over a four year period.
PROCESS TO APPLY FOR A GUERIN CATHOLIC ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP:
- Take the High School Placement Test at Guerin Catholic High School.
Test Dates:
October 20, 2007
December 1, 2007
8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- To be eligible for an Academic Scholarship, you must have accomplished the following criteria:
a. Scored a PASS+ on either the Language Arts and/or Math section of your 8th Grade ISTEP
b. Have a grade average of B+ over your 7th and 8th grade school years.
c. Be in good standing with your current school.
- Provide three letters of recommendations that reflect your academic status, character, and involvement in service work. These recommendations are the same recommendations that you have in your Academic Portfolio.
- Write an essay (typed) which would describe why you want to attend Saint Theodore Guerin High School. This essay has to be focused on our Four Pillars of Excellence which are Spirituality, Academics, Service, and Leadership. What will separate your essay from others can be determined by the quality of your writing and how you explain what you will bring to Guerin Catholic High School in regards to our Four Pillars of Excellence. Guerin Catholic desires students who can contribute to our community in different and unique ways.
- All applications must be completed and returned to Guerin Catholic High School by February 1, 2008. Applications will be reviewed by the Guerin Catholic High School Academic Council.

1 Staff Member
- Students will be notified by March 14, 2008 on the status of their application.
