APPLICATION PROCESS

Please follow the steps in the admission process to enroll your student for the 2008-2009 school year at Guerin Catholic High School.

PRIORITY PLACEMENT: Siblings of students currently enrolled at Guerin Catholic and Catholic students that are members of parishes in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana will receive priority placement until December 31, 2007. All required documents listed under Step One must be received prior to December 31, 2007 to be considered for priority placement.


STEP ONE:

A. Complete the Application Form
Complete the application form and return it to Guerin Catholic High School. A non-refundable application fee of $250.00, which will be applied to your student’s first year tuition, is to accompany the application form. The $250 application fee is waived for families applying for financial assistance. Click here for a copy of the application form.

B. Submit an Educational Portfolio. The portfolio should include the following material and accompany the application form:

* A copy of the student's standardized test scores from 6th and 7th grade school year (and 8th grade as available).

o 8th Grade ISTEP Test (when available)
o 7th Grade IOWA Test or other standardized tests (if available)
o 6th and 7th Grade ISTEP

* A copy of the student's report card from his/her 6th, 7th and 8th grade school years.
* A list of extra and co-curricular activities, service experiences and church involvement.
* A recommendation from a faculty member and/or administration at the school where your student is presently enrolled. At least three (3) are required. Click here for a copy of the Recommendation form.

C. Take the High School Placement Test
All eighth grade students applying to Guerin Catholic High School are required to take the High School Placement Test. This test will help us validate a student’s readiness and proper placement into classes, among other goals. Advanced registration for the High School Placement Test is required by calling the Admission’s Office at (317) 582-0120 ext. 279. Students should arrive at Guerin Catholic no later than 8:30 a.m. the day of the test.

Test Dates:
Saturday, October 20, 2007* — 8:30 a.m. - noon
Saturday, December 1, 2007* — 8:30 a.m. - noon
Saturday, March 15, 2008 — 8:30 a.m. - noon
* ALL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS WILL NEED TO TAKE THE OCT. 20 OR DEC. 1 TEST


STEP TWO:
Receiving Notice of Acceptance
Acceptance letters will be mailed to those that have been accepted under priority placement in mid-January 2008. Acceptance at Guerin Catholic High School is contingent upon a student’s remaining in good academic and behavioral standing in his/her current school and successful completion of the 8th grade. If there are any remaining openings after this date we will continue to accept applications until each class is full. The spots will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.


STEP THREE:
Setting an Appointment for Interview and Scheduling Classes
You will be contacted in February 2008 to schedule an interview with the Guidance Department. Meetings of parents/guardians, students, and our Guidance Counselor will begin to take place in February 2008. This interview will allow school personnel to meet your student and to help guide him/her in making sound decisions regarding his/her academic career at Guerin Catholic High
School. The student’s schedule requests will be considered complete only with the approval of the counselor and signature of the parent/guardian.


STEP FOUR:
Setting up Your Tuition Payment Program
At the time of the appointment with the Guidance Department to schedule classes, a tuition deposit of $750 and a payment plan agreement is required to finalize the enrollment process. The tuition deposit is waived for families applying for financial assistance. The tuition plan offered by FACTS Management Company offers a variety of flexible plans for payment of the student’s tuition. FACTS management plan offers:

  • Monthly payments that are automatically drafted from a checking, savings or money market account. Facts Management offers two different dates, the 5th and/or the 20th, which are available to draft payments from your account.
  • Semi-annual payment that are automatically drafted from a checking, saving or money market account. Your first payment is due July 2008 and the second payment is due January 2009.
  • Annual payment to be paid in full by July 15, 2008 - directly to the business office.

Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available for students/families who qualify based on financial need. Financial Aid applications are available from FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment Company by calling 1-800-390-4690 or you can apply on-line at www.factstuitionaid.com. There is a $20 application fee to process your financial information. A W-2 and a tax return are required to complete the application process.

PLEASE NOTE: DEADLINE FOR FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS IS FEBRUARY 15, 2008.
