The business competition club won its District Competition and advanced 52 students from District to State Competition. In doing so, one-half of the Guerin Catholic DECA members finished first, second or third at District. Students finishing first overall in their events were Will Bates, Kenneth Villacorta, Matt Quinn, Oksana Oleshchuk, Amanda Gjerde, Olivia Balcer and Elizabeth Lewis.
In addition, Hannah Kane, Andrew Sharpe, Matthew Finley, Matt Mewborn, Julia Gallina, Isaac Cloran, Cooper Fetters, Logan Bedford, Olivia Balcer and Alessia Bernocco received the highest written test scores in their categories.
At State competition, 15 Guerin Catholic DECA members received recognition and 10 qualified for international competition in Anaheim, California. Oksana Oleshchuk and Andrew Sharpe were state champions. Qualifying for DECA International, along with Oksana and Andrew were Kenneth Villacorta, Arinn Cox, Julia Gallina, Amanda Schafer, Amanda Gjerde, Cam Walsh, Cooper Fetters, and Anna Cummings.
Seven of the 10 qualifiers competed in Anaheim and are shown here at DECA Day at Disneyland. If you see a Guerin Catholic DECA member, be sure to congratulate them on another great year.
