Learning Support Resource Program
In the words of Saint Theodore Guerin, “Love the Children First, then Teach Them”, rest assured, we at Guerin Catholic are committed to your child every step of the way!
Guerin Catholic has created the Learning Support Resource Program to provide academic support to our students with diagnosed learning challenges. The purpose of the Learning Support Resource Program is to provide academic support to our students with diverse learning needs so they can be academically successful and achieve their educational goals.
Learning support students are taught study skills and strategies for many of the courses they take at Guerin Catholic. Organizational skills are an integral part of the Learning Support program as well as the continual development of written expression skills and reading comprehension skills.
The goal of the program is to provide resources and extensive individual support for continued development of a student’s skills, to ensure they become independent learners, and grow toward self-advocacy all while achieving their own educational goals.
- Basic Skills Development is a multidisciplinary course (1 credit per trimester). Each student is assigned a teacher who specifically supports with grade and assignment tracking, organization and study skills.
- The Learning Support Testing Center provides a distraction-free environment.
- Extended time, as needed for testing and additional assignments.
- Walk-in academic support is provided during Kairos period as well as, before and after school.
